Soap Ledger vs Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase)

Stocksmith is the new name for Craftybase: same team, same software. It is inventory and manufacturing software for makers of all kinds, with sales channel integrations, bills of materials, production assemblies, and batch and lot tracking from its Indie plan. Soap Ledger is made for soap: lye maths with sourced SAP values, recipe versions, curing and soap labels, with CSV sales import and lot tracing on its $19 Shop plan. Stocksmith is the stronger choice for a larger, multi-channel business that wants marketplace integrations and automatic stock sync.

Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase) information is from its public website, app-store listings and the other sources below, checked October 2026. It may have changed; please check Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase)'s site for current details. Soap Ledger's plans are on the pricing page.

Where Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase) is better

  • Sales channel integrations with automatic stock sync and hourly imports on its Business plan (manual stock sync on Indie), so stock follows orders. Soap Ledger imports sales from CSV files instead.
  • Built for any craft, so it suits a business that makes candles, jewelry or other products alongside soap.
  • Larger-business features such as automated production assemblies, production scheduling, Amazon and QuickBooks inventory sync, and thousands of order lines a month on its upper plans.

Where Soap Ledger is different

  • Soap-specific: lye and water maths with sourced SAP values, soap qualities, curing with review dates, and soap batch labels.
  • A free plan, and lot tracing on the $19 Shop plan rather than an $83-a-month (billed annually) plan.
  • Export everything (CSV, JSON or a full archive) on every plan.

Which to choose

Choose Stocksmith (formerly Craftybase) if you run a multi-product or high-volume business and need marketplace integrations with automatic stock sync.

Choose Soap Ledger if soap is your product and you want the lye maths, curing and records in one place at a lower price.

What we couldn't confirm

  • Prices shown are with annual billing. The month-to-month prices weren't in what we checked, so we haven't listed them.
  • We found no dedicated cure view in Stocksmith's soapmaking workflows (they use stock adjustments to hold curing soap); the pricing page doesn't cover this.
  • Older price trackers list a lower Pro plan; it wasn't on the pricing page we checked.

Try Soap Ledger. The lye calculator is free with no account; the app's Free plan needs only an email.
