The terms, in plain language

These terms cover your use of Soap Ledger, the app at app.soapledger.com and this website. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What Soap Ledger is, and isn't

Soap Ledger helps you keep records and do calculations for making soap. It compares your recipes with published reference values and flags anything unusual.

It does not certify that any soap is safe, gentle, correctly formulated or legal to sell. Lye is dangerous. Calculations can be affected by the values you enter, your ingredients, your equipment and how you work. You are responsible for checking your recipes, following safe practice, testing your products and meeting the laws and labelling rules where you make and sell them.

2. Your account

You must be at least 16 to use Soap Ledger.
Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
The owner of a workspace decides who can join it and what they can do. People you invite can see and change what their role allows.

3. Your content

Your recipes, records and files belong to you. You give us permission to store, process and display them only to run the service for you and the people you invite. You can export your data at any time.

Please only upload content you have the right to use. Don't upload anything illegal or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

4. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service. For example, don't try to access other people's workspaces, break or overload the service, get around limits or security, scrape it, or use it to send spam.

5. Plans, early access and payments

Soap Ledger is currently in early access. Everyone has full access for free, and nothing is charged.
We plan to introduce paid plans (Maker and Shop). We'll tell you before that happens, and the Free plan will stay available.
When paid plans start, payments will be handled by Paddle as the seller of record, under their terms. Plan details and prices will be shown before you buy.
If you downgrade or stop paying, we won't delete your data. Content over the Free limits becomes read-only and stays exportable.

6. Changes and availability

We're improving Soap Ledger all the time, so features may change. We'll try to keep it running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Please keep your own exports of anything important.

7. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Soap Ledger without owing you anything. We'll handle any personal details as described in the privacy policy.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Soap Ledger and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

9. Disclaimers and limits of liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any harm arising from products you make, use or sell. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which is zero during early access). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under laws that can't be excluded.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For important changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
